Winter project secured, opinions please?

FWIW, I think I prefer post 42 as a basic concept, to post 39. But #39 isn't terrible, and if you chose that I wouldn't shout "Don't do it!"

Post 37 proves that all-white doesn't work. It needs a colour band of some sort

I like the "Italian trick" blackened windows in both #39 and #42

Hi All
Yes the grey looks excellent and the black around the windows is a must I think.
Are you going to do the flybridge band in grey wrap rather than paint?
I think I would look to painting the flybridge deflector with a decent etch primer and black spray to save on costs.
Think this will turn into a cracking boat, and must admit I slightly jealous, although I have a Lochin 33 :-)

not sure about this one though:- http://cdn.boatshed.com/autoimage-100300_BoatPic_Main.jpg-400-300.jpg :-O

Geoff

That looks exactly the same as the one which used to be in Lyme Regis harbour, but with the f/b canopy added, which just looks wrong. I always liked the workman like looks of that boat, even though the colour was dire!

Lochin 33 is a cracker!
Perspex/acrylic sheet is very cheap and there are quite a few companies who'll cut to shape from your original or template, hence I'm not going to faff around with painting the f/b screen, I'll just change to a dark smoke colour in 8mm thick.
Undecided yet on vinyl wrap or paint, design is not my strongest point and having dabbled around with various configurations over colour on the f/b and position of said colour I'm very undecided! (was hoping for a member with vision to nail it for me).........jfm...."basic concept" I'd welcome further ideas if you're harbouring some (pls excuse the pun)....
I had taken a look at the pics of the boatshed one! guess that the colour was ok when built! Memories of an aubergine bathroom suite as a child come flooding back;)
Turning my attention to the interior and trying to get some inspiration for the small space in there, I've been drawn to the designs that the VW T5 Camper Van brigade are fitting, try googling some images, very different indeed but would it work afloat?...hmmm
Cheers...:)

Hi Rob,

Think if you were to get a decent sign writer company down with some vinyl wrap you could blank out the blue strip in white then work out your requirements for the next stage and then you wont be tied by the width of the original band to mask up, paint out in white then mask back up for the colour etc.
Interior design....bright clean fresh colours and a practicle layout I suppose.

and here's my Lochin 33

Yep....good looking boat you have there Geoff, very seaworthy craft indeed.

Project arrives with me in Wales this coming Saturday and looking forward to getting started!
Had a stroke of luck this week too...
I'd put the word out locally that I was looking for a workshop/storage space to rent for six months while I worked on the boat over the winter (rather than keeping on the hard outside), upshot being I've taken a short term lease on an area inside a large wharehouse approx 2000sq ft (my area) total area some 12,000sq ft, cheap as chips rent, security patrols, free electric, toilet and kitchen facillities all included.....
But the added bonus is this, one other company shares this building.....A specialist grp moulding Co! Mainly making roadside enclosures to hold transformers or BT equipment etc, but will turn their hands to any requirements, collected my keys for the unit today, met these guys whos'e parting shot was.....if you need anything glassing...or grp work...gelcoats,flowcoats paint or accetone...just give us a shout!
Bingo...love it when a plan comes together.
Will report futher when the boat is in situ and the refurb begins.
Cheers, Rob ;)

Ha ha that's fantastic. You might as well buy a couple more projects off eBay and do 3 boats together then!

John, leave it there hey! I was sorely interested (and still am) in another cracker of a project which popped on on eBay 2 days ago, petrol lumps were offputting but had I not already comittted myself then I may well have gone for this....(may still do if my current Jeanneau sells quickly) ;-)

Hi Rob. Reckon she'll scrub up welll and what a stroke of luck with your "neighbours".
Nice looking boat, must get round to Bury Port one day, maybe see you in Portcawl?

Im tempted by that other project... Haha...
:) nice going there...
Im currently sorting my project gear out :)
Where abouts is this firm that does the moulding and glass work etc....

Photo's let the boat down Rob! looking at others of the same online, for its size it's a great shape boat, classic yankee sort of thing, for a 25/26 ish craft, they nailed it in profile (shame they didn't get a profile shot in the advert)....I do like it and with a pair of "Donks" as suggested by jfm it would make a classic retro boat...IMHO :)
GRP and timber....hmmm....not just a moulding as most are now!

I agree... Too much for me though. I have enough on my plate at the moment. More than enough actually.
Trying to finish rebuilding a classic gsxr750 homologation special. Cylinder head going on tonight and then rebuild the frame..
Want to get this sorted before i get stuck in to my own build... My mate owns the bike, i want him to get it back for christmas, as i have been restoring it. Will cheer him up no end, as he's just going through the wars with chemotherapy..
