RIP
I like my winter cruising, infact it's not much different than summer cruiseing. Distance traveled might be a bit less. It's not so much about getting there as can you get back. A generator is a must, if only to keep the heating going, theres not many places to plug in in the South West. Biggest problems are Duck [censored] Poo? ah ha!! covering the available pontoons and landing stages taken away for maintainance or out of the storms. Other than that you can moor or anchor most anywhere at will. Most places charge half price or dont even bother charging at all. Plymouths great cos like this time, we tried to get out the harbour a couple of times but the waves kept chucking us back!! It is quite fun outside the breakwater in 10-20ft waves for a half hour or so, dont want anything going wrong though!!
But whilst its cold and stormy, there is time to sneek up the rivers, nooks and cranies and things. No time to do that in the summer, then spend all day refueling or going miles and miles. Last week only used about half a tank, yet met up with Gone Fishing, Pisitavlypossed and the other bloke and his family that wot I forgot his handle!! Sorry!! But a trip to the pub for the night up river is just as good as miles and miles if not done every time. Long John has a new floosie so not had to put up with him /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Cant understand taking boats out of water for the winter, a green house heater and a dehumidifier keeps it going all year and no need to winterise cos it never stops!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
The new dinghy with blow up floor and keel keeps the spray down but is to heavy to cart up the beach. So I bought two little fold up anchors, one at the end of a ten foot line, then a trip line and umm 100ft of line. So after reaching beach, you just send the dinghy out to sea again, out of harms way, then retieve it on the long lump of string. Thats the theory anyway!!
Need more practice or maybe bigger anchor /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Oh! I see that the new sytem has censored [censored] But poo is OK. now is it any beter than the old system that shunned Scunthorpe??? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Well it dont seem to, wonder what else it dont like. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
I'll see!!
