Hi all, we were thinking of leaving our 34ft Colvic in Falmouth over winter. However, our first choice Premier may or maynot have room, they don't know yet, and won't start till November. Are there any more options? Preferably with electric and starting in October?

Rustler's yard is also used for winter storage. In the summer it becomes park and ride car parking, and in winter it reverts to a boat-yard's hard standing.

Up the river beyond the King Harry ferry there's Smugglers Moorings: they have some pontoon berth for up to 45 feet. Website here http://smugglersmoorings.co.uk/.

We stopped off here a couple of years ago as they were setting up. Great spot and well sheltered. Nice ethos and very boat friendly. I would certainly consider leaving my boat here if I was in the area. I don't think that we could stay on the pontoon then and there obviously isn't any leccy on the moorings...

+1 for this outfit. Only downside (doesn't affect us) is deadline for leaving yard in Spring. Believe it is cheaper than Mylor and Premier.

We use it now, in preference to Gweek Quay (not Falmouth of course), waiting to see how their 'improvements' come along. Used to be cheaper still, but only available on Spring tides.

Greetings, Rustlers Yard is reasonable, it's handy for Sainsburys, McSalvors chandlers, and all sorts of usefull operators.

From the horses' mouth.. Rustlers Yard hard standing will unexpectedly bill you for leccy, can be a bit of a stinger..the geyser is a bit of a knob, but you dont have daily dealings with him, so it's not an issue.

No other issues though, (and <<allegedly>>> you can live on board in the winter, I got away with it but dont ask and they cant say no..)
Friendly place to work on the boat out of season, and a wonderful chandlers on site, a husband and wife team who operate out of a couple of Portacabins and undercut the big name outfits on price, and actually know what a 9/16" , left-handed bronze tiddle-twiddle looks like (hang on a minute I think there's one in the drawer ;) )
I bought all my running rigging from them, Liros imitation hemp, top quality 3 strand, close to drum price, massively recommended even if you dont end up tying up there.

Penryn is a cool place to hang out as well. All sorts of services on your doorstep. Mega nice friendly village up the hill, If you do end up in that neck of the woods you wont regret it.

I bought my boat, and prepared her for cruising, in Rustlers Yd 3 yrs ago, if you do end up there you can send me a message if you need anything. P

yet another comment, you can watch the Rustlers being built! ( if pumped-up Folkboats get your juices flowing..as well as Prinsess Annes')
