I have found a number of posts about good live aboard destinations for overwintering on the Atlantic coasts of France and Iberia but I am looking for somewhere more basic where I could overwinter a 10m cruising yacht afloat in decent shelter and adequate security from November to March.

I plan to leave the boat and so won't be living aboard except for maybe a few days for fitting out, so restaurants, wi fi, etc etc are of limited interest. Correspondingly, I am unenthusiastic about paying for fancy facilities that I will barely use.

France preferred because I speak the language but Spain and Portugal also of interest.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

I'd recommend Cris Boats at Redon- the head of mast up navigation on the Villiane River. Basic yard, very friendly people & reasonably priced when we stayed there 2009/10.

Good shout, would second that suggestion as it sounds just the place the op is describing

Kept 42 footer there for best part of a year, no hassle, no charge, walk or cycle ride into nearest town Chateaulin for all supplies, some expats living in Port Launay could be asked to keep eye on boat.

A few liveaboards to be found all year and an influx of boats from Brest over several weekends in summer when they raft up and let their hair down.

Google again for any works on the locks at Port Launay
