We started out from the Hamble yesterday for three weeks touring the West Country.
By Poole Bay the other boat we were with had enough and dipped into Poole Harbour.
We are now in a very wet Weymouth with the prospects of the next leg of the trip across Lyme Bay looking quite a while off.

Sat at home 'on holiday' waiting for a weather window to get from Solent to West Country. Want to watch America's Cup otherwise could have departed tomorrow as it looks OK. Maybe Tuesday/Wednesday could be the earliest departure now.

Just can't believe that Im sat in Weymouth harbour with the heating on! Diverted here this afternoon on way from Ocean Village to Dartmouth on the last leg of our 'Summer' cruise! Mrs T got a bit spooked by the Coastguard weather update promising NW Force 8 winds for Portland 'soon'. Tried persuading her that this was different to 'imminent', but to avoid any risk, and as we are in no rush, I suggested we make the unscheduled stop in Weymouth and plough on in the morning. We have started talking more seriously about the prospects of boating in the Mediterranean...

Has definitely been a very windy summer. We arrived back in Dartmouth yesterday after being away for 5 weeks on way to and back from Scilly. We managed 2.5 weeks there, normally we'd expect a few windy days, this time we had one or two calm days, the rest were blowing F4-5 or above which made it hard work getting ashore. And the week we had in Falmouth before the crossing to Scilly was also very blustery. I have to say that we have also started to look at the options of keeping Eos somewhere warmer and, hopefully, less windy.
Today has seen constant driving rain, more strong winds, and the need for heating. It's not been a great summer so far, let's hope August is better!

One of the great joys of the UK is the variety of weather, it's just a fact that many moan and groan if it's too hot for any more than a week, if it snows they moan, they never stop moaning about rain and yes wind too.
You only have to watch the news to see that we are so lucky and fortunate to live in a stable country, and to be able to enjoy boating is just a dream to all those moaning about the wind watch the news, reflect and cheer up, it could be a lot worse

Oh so true.
But it's not just the weekends when it windy. We were on the boat Tues and Wed and it was really blowing. On a positive note it gave us the opportunity to do some jobs we wouldn't do if we were busy using it. We now have some very shiny stainless
BTW Paul, was it you I chatted to at Mercury last month when you were out in your RIB? You popped over when you saw another Broom moor up.

Discovered the reason for this summer's wind, off the TV this am. Apparently the jet stream is much further south than normal which is why we are getting depressions hitting us like they would in winter. Normally all these depressions would pass north of Scotland.
Unfortunately it sounds like we going to be having this for the rest of the summer.....

Picking up on the "Med" -but not wanting to gloat ,just passing info ,it's been hotter and dryer than normal thus for this season in SOF .,and calm .
Last week Sea temp was 30 oC -yup the water and the air dropped to 27 oC at night ( air con needed ) from
38 oC some days .
In fact we just motored about to cool down ,ie create a breeze ,cos with the sea so hot even that ,a dip des not really cool you for long

Very nice pics Portofino and you do certainly get the weather compared to back here.
But, as soon as I get to the point of thinking "Wouldn't it be nice if.........", I get the reality check of going through UK airports. It's bad enough having to put up with them when travelling on business. If I had to do it for pleasure too I think I'd go insane.

I know what you mean - I was at Gatwick last night picking someone up. It was a Zoo
