Windy boats

Hi all,

Very infrequent poster here but wanted to pick anyones' brains on Windy boats and useage on the river. My current boat is an s38 Sealine kept at Bray which I know many of you will say is a pretty impractical river boat though have to say we have loved using her on the Thames for the last few seasons and my family and I love the cockpit and social space.

We are looking to downsize a bit but still want the cockpit space and open sports boat type approach and a couple of people have recommended having a look at either a Windy Ghibli or Tornado. Reviews seem to be really favourable on build quality and re-sale value etc but wondered if anyone out there had first hand experience.

Buying a Windy and only using it on the Thames?!

Does seem a shame to use one on the river, they are renowned for their superb seakeeping and ability to go flat out in poor conditions and excellent build
quality. However that means they hold their value so I expect a 31 foot Windy will cost the same or more than your 38 foot Sealine. Windy's are also size for size
a bit more cramped on accomodation because they are performance biased, so common sense says to stay with the Sealine as buying the Windy gives you
nothing for Thames use except some reduced mooring and license costs.

However since when has common sense had anything to do with boat buying, I'd love to own a Windy one day but I would hate to keep it caged on the Thames it is
really the ultimate Solent weekender.
