Windy 37 Grand Mistral

many thanks for your thoughts the one I'm looking at has 500hrs and I have been informed comprehensively maintained, out of interest how do you find the side decks, as they look a little slim?
The side decks are pretty narrow, not a problem if you're agile but I can imagine they might be tricky if you're not.

Give them a try and see whtlether you can make it work.

The side decks have never been an issue for us. You have a stainless rail you can grab on the HT. Anyway if you are a bit nervous to step up on the sides from the very back you can use the steps inside the HT next to the sink.... then you must open the canvas though .... or you can enter the foredeck through the ceiling window in the masters cabin. I admit the side decks are slim but we have never found it a problem. You get used to it very fast.

There's a boating neighbor on our pier who has had one of these for many years. One suggestion from me is to make sure you take a seat at the helm and get a good feel for whether the view out works for you personally. It might be a good idea to bring your spouse along as well, as you may have very different opinions on visibility depending on your heights. This can maybe be improved by replacing the seating though (I don't know).

Yes we are both going to view and will assess the helm position for both of us. :)

I sold one of these three years ago, the open top version.
Very good hull, will run around a Fairline Targa 37 in the chop.
Build quality is good but not over the top. Electrical system like sub average.

The one I sold had Kad44s (tops 37 cruises up 30 knots if you want), open top version and I also delivered it in about one meter waves 60 nautical miles trip.

Viewed on Sat, she needed a lot of love, more than I was prepared for, so we won't be progressing with this Windy. :-(

Always disappointing when you have high hopes of a great boat, been disappointed ourselves a few times. What work did she really need as a matter of interest

We felt the same hence comment about price. We have three Windys in our marina and all are cherished so I am certain you will find one if this is the boat for you.
We also considered a Beneteau GT38 which seemed a lot of boat for the money. Not Windy's legendary handling but more accommodation and our friends have been to the West Country and France in their's in the first season of ownership.

Hi ST, At first glance she looked ok, but on closer inspection, the whole gelcoat was chalky and flat, the bilges had a diesel and water mix in them, the engine bay was, in my opinion, exceptionally grubby, which made me question maintenance, as there was no service records available.

Again in my opinion, all the upholstery, carpet sets and mattress's needed replacing, either worn, dirty, tears or rips. There was a large crack in the roof panel behind the sliding roof, maybe something stuck in it when it was opened? Mechanically it was untested but she just felt unloved and tired. In its favour was newish raymarines, autopilot, radar and she was "cheap -100k" for a 37GM.

In trying to refine what type of boat we want, we have viewed a lot of boats recently and only one was really clean, tidy and obviously well looked after, some of the others were 🤮 I don't understand why owners leave them in a state and expect them to sell?
