I'm looking keenly at the Windy 25 mirage, i've seen a couple advertised for around the £55,000 mark. Does anyone know what depreciation you'd expect on one of these?. If anyone has had any experience with the boat i'd be greatful to hear from you.

Thanks

As far as ownership is concerned, the 25 Mirage is slated as being the finest handling boat in its class - by many esteemed testers. Windies are not cheap, and this price looks attractive. All boats depreciate, but you can expect less from this one, providing its in good condition to start with and you keep it that way.

Am I biased? - Yes of course I am. I own a Windy 8800

Mmmm, tricky and uncharted territory IMHO. New, these boats cost nearer £75k so at £55k it's already depreciated a fair bit. However, they're well built and have had great reviews. But, £55k is still a lot of dosh for a 25 footer. You could buy a newish S25 (that sleeps 4 instead of 2) for the same cash. All in all I'd predict some fairly gentle/average depreciation. I'd guess at maybe £5k p.a.

Anyone else?

Yes, indeed. We don't have enough about the anticipated usage to form a right opinion.

Windies, up to 30 foot are basically 2+2 with loads of cockpit space and heaps of horepower married to a great hull with fab build quality.

If you need two cabins and don't need the performance, why not the Glastron GS279? Good package at the price you are looking at for new.

If its 5yrs old or more and its round about the price of others on the market, then its probably plateau'd out price wise so dont expect much more depreciation. Could be you could sell it in 3 yrs time for £5-7k less but dont forget brokers commission of 6% + VAT so thats another £4k loss
Its going to depend as well on how you keep the boat and the state of the market. Keep it mint and sell when the market is good and you might even sell for nearly as much as you paid. Obviously it also depends on what you buy it for. If you're really lucky, you might get an offer of £45k accepted in which case you might even make a few bob
Agree with petem though. Windy's are a bit pricey although a quality product so the potential market is smaller than, say, Sealine so it might take a bit longer to sell
