Windsor pump out

We had to use Bourne end marina pump out. He charged £16 !!!!! I almost pooped right there on the pontoon when he said how much... If he hadnt allready pumped out, I would have gone elsewhere to pump out.:mad:

Weve just had a weekend away with three kids, so may be in need of Windsor pump out very soon.... ;)
 
Whats the costs in fitting a holding tank ? I'm faced with a portopotie empty and i never ever want to be faced with it again :eek: I would gladly pay £16 for someone else to do it !
 
Depends on a lot! Mainly ease of access getting the tank in, and how difficult it is to run pipe work. And don't forget a lift out to fit toilet seacocks :(

Tank could drop straight into the cockpit and i could move the bog to be next to it if need be as i could do with making that area a bit bigger anyway and losing some of the dining area .
Would i need seacocks ? Its an inland river cruiser so wont be pumping overboard .

PS . will you empty my potty for me ? Theres a £20 in it for you :D

Will need to suck river water in for the flush though !

We used a porta on the Norman and the P32. Not the most pleasant job in the world but it is free and with a holding tank likely to set you back anything between £500 and £1K with fitting etc it has its attractions. Trick is to encourage yourself and crew/passengers to make best use of shore facilities whenever available - mind you, that "holds good" for a holding tank as well :D
 
Interesting. I think my holding tank toilet which is a vetus setup flushes from the fresh water tank and not from the river. Will have to check but it seems too clean for river water.
 
Whilst there is no reason why water from the fresh water tank should not be used to flush the loo, the use of direct suction from the river seems a more practical approach. The river water may not be "potable" but it is certainly clean enough for sanitary purposes. Both my previous boats with sea toilets used direct suction from sea/river.
Using water from the onboard freshwater tank not only increases demand on the available supply but also has rather unpleasant repercussions in the event of an empty tank !
