Some advice, please.

I want to stay overnight within range of the races on Monday (Harlequins sponsored - yay! - I am a member).

Where should I moor that is within walking distance?

I seem to remember a back water to the race course where you can pretty much be right by the course fence . Im sure it was Cuchilo i went down there on but it could have been Seaspray . Both dont draw alot of water and i was quite suprised to find a race course and a marina on such a small back water .

Grasshopper remembers well! That will be the African Queen adventure access into Windsor Racecourse Marina and I think you will be able to get Ex Libris up there but best ring them to check.

Boveney Lock is actually quite close to the racecourse which is on the other side of the weir. There are overnight moorings at the lock but I am not sure if you can cross the weir and actually access the racecourse.

You could, of course, moor up anywhere in Windsor and hop on the Frenches boats which run to and from the racecourse on race days.

French... but which is more glam for guests, plus we are heading on "up" afterwards so shower facilities etc will save us water

Jeez....I HATE it when people do this !!!! Did you mention guests before ? No, of course you didnt ! Mind you. knowing your predilection for social intercourse it was equally wrong to assume you would be alone :(

I think you have answered your own question - the marina is definitely a more guest impressing experience than W&MBC moorings and a tatty public service launch service.

If you havent been into Racecourse Yacht Basin before you will find it an interesting experience - my comments re African Queen were pertinent ! I would ring the marina and ask their advice re availability of mooring space and access with you draft - wouldnt do your street cred much good if you get stuck before you even get there !

Just spoke with Windsor Racecourse Marina - 4ft draft will be an issue :(

French Bros it is then!

An excellent evening and one I will do again. Mr Gates really looked after us at Windsor Marina. French Bros were very friendly and lurk here (cheers Chris)! I missed the Quins sponsored race but we had paddock tickets gifted by another friend so the five of us did well. Someone won £400 on the last race so that paid for dinner at The Green Olive... I am down £100 but up a big smile
