Just looking at buying an Antares 8, the boat in question has both port(navigator) and stbd(wheelhouse) sliding windows totally seized. I’ve never seen anything like that before so thought I’d ask others if they have and any ideas on cause and resolution..,

Most likely caused by lack of use / TLC

I think the design changed over the years but if it feels like glued in the guide the first step would be thorough cleaning with dishwashing soap, allowing it to soak for some time.

Next step, after drying, would be WD40 or similar, non aggressive penetrating stuff, also allowed time to do its work.

If windows are plastic (acrylic/plexiglass, polycarbonate) rather than glass, be careful with detergents and solvents

I am always staggered that 2 of the 3 electric windows on my boat ( Squadron 58) still work at all.

The mechanisms are usually very hard to get to and then close to impossible to remove. Your milage may vary but either (a) ignore it (b) make it the vendors problem (c) buy it and hope for the best. They have an impossibly hard life with salt water.
