The veneer on our Feeling 1090 window surrounds is peeling due to leaks over the years. If I were to remove the surrounds, are there any companies out there that can redo the veneer ?
Or does anyone have any other suggestions.
Thanks
John

I have bought veneers off ebay (Vale Veneers in Aylesbury.) The trick to get flat areas flat is not to use contact adhesive but 'sheet' glue - also available from the same place. I redid the chart table on the old boat and am doing the nav station on the current boat at the moment. (I have no connection.)

I would second Talulah's comments. You can buy direct from Vale Veneers at http://www.valeveneers.co.uk/. If it's a Feeling odds are it's Elm venneer that you want. I don't know anyone who can do the job, but I did it myself on my boat (a Feeling)

Good luck!

Try doing it yourself. I've not veneered a window myself, but I have made a repro Victorian Rosewood (Santos) writing box, and the veneering really wasn't too difficult. It just required care and attention (and a sharp knife) to get the required finish.

I used 'The Art Veneers Company' at http://www.artveneers.co.uk/. Some of the woods they offer are absolutely exquisite - and as a result I invested rather more money in the writing box than I'd intended, but it was a joy to work with and I'm very pleased with the results.

Regards,

Richard.
