Window refurbishment

OK, you have a good memory for Jokes.

I first heard that in secondary school aged 12.

I'm sure it wasn't new then :p

sorry for pulling this old thread but I'm desperately looking for a contact to Paul Hughes - the old mobile number is disconnected and he won't reply to messages on the landline mailbox :-( - if someone can help or knows another "master of windows" between Bath and London ... Many thanks!

Break them down and do them yourself using black glazing sikaflex.
You must use their primer.
It's not difficult, just a step by step process but messy!
It's what would happen if you gave them to a 'pro'

I did that a few years ago rather than buying new seals. They worked for quite a while but they're leaking like sieves now. I'm going to replace with rubber seals(if I can get them)seated in sikalfex and neoprene between the frame and the fibre glass when refitting. I fancy tarting the V Berth up, but not much point while the windows are leaking.

Hmmm.I couldn't find window bits for an RLM? 20 years ago.now we have google you may come up with something.
You took the glass out of the frame when you did it a few years ago? Not criticising but they don't leak if done properly.
Between the frame and fibreglass should be Arbourmast Butyl(think that the correct spelling).
Ask on the PBO forum maybe?
Good luck.

.

Abormast BR is the stuff to get. Butyl based, none setting and gets into every void and crack..... Slap it on, tighten up, it will squeeze out every where, clean up with paper towel and white spirit. Job done for 20 years!!!
It's what the pro used on mine when I paid him to do one window.... It's what I used when I did all the rest!!! No leaks yet!!!

Thanks for taking the time to post the link. I ordered a couple of tubes earlier today; it looks like a more reliable solution to neoprene with siliconed screw holes.
