window refurb required

Decided to get my cabin windows refurbished and having a huge difficulty getting anyone who can help. There is the occasional minor leak but really I want to get them looking good so need them re-anodised and new rubber seals.

I have a Sealine 215, it's a 1989 so not worth a hell of lot. First quote to get the cabin windows done was £2,500! Found another place on the internet calling itself an expert in window refurb, dilligently emailed them photos and they came back with a quote but said they don't re-anodise!!

Has anyone got any ideas of who to go to?

[/ QUOTE ] I expect you will have to get the anodising done separately. Yell.com comes up with three anodisers for your area but they may not undertake small one off jobs. There's one I know of in Emsworth that does if if it comes to that.

You should be aware though that unless the frames are free of corrosion and other blemishes you could well be disappointed with the results (If they are blemish free then you don't need to get them re-anodised anyway!)

Ive only got three suggestions for getting the windows rebuilt. One is DIY the others are Eagle Boat Windows in Skipton www.eagleboatwindows.co.uk and Seaclear Windows in Sevenoaks 01732 464635.

There are others and maybe you'll get some other suggestions. I don't think you'd go wrong with Eagle though

Possibly your nearest marine window manufacturer is CJ International of Cradley Heath. They will make/refurbish whatever you require, and being 30 or so miles from Tewkesbury, you could perhaps visit them to discuss matters. They are a very helpful, small firm. I found their prices very competitive, probably because they inhabit the real world, rather than south coast yacht resorts! As said before, re-anodising may not be a sensible option.

Try powder coaters

You can get a powder finish that is equivalent of silver anodising and it will also mask some of the deeper corrosion.

I don't know how it would look on your boat but we decided against refinishing our windows on the last boat and changed due to cost and the thickness of the windowa (4mm) So we decided to face fix 8mm blue grey tint Perspex and it looked great.

And was really strong

And half the cost !!
