I need to remove and re-bond Perspex windows on a 20year old Jeanneau. They are bonded directly on to the GRP with no other fixings which is fine.

The problem I have is that there is so much conflicting information on the Sika site with the tech information (confusing in it's self), PBO Ask The Experts, Sika Professionals and the Jeanneau Owners Forum.

So I need 295UV for the adhesive, that's the easy bit.

Do I need the 205 Activator for the GRP and or the Perspex? Some say yes, some say no.

GRP Primer, I think the consensus is that I need the 209D primer.

Perspex Primer. PBO Ask The Expert, at 11mins 30 says to use Sika 207 but the Sika Tech info suggests 209D and then the Sika Pro says no primer for the Perspex. This is confusing.

Can anyone give a definitive process or point to a good You Tube video or website? Please...

Many thanks

There is the problem as I've just had an email from Sika UK Technical advisor indicating, no 205 needed, and 209D primer, not the Marine Multi as indicated in the doc you linked to...

Confused.

'3M VHB' - Very High Bonding tape.
I got rid of a million machine screws and mastic.
Has been on my Frances for 6 years, no movement , no leaks.
Expensive though .

How does this work xactly? I will be replacing the windows on my trailer sailer and was going to get replacements oversized and screw throguh grp. This sounds like a good alternative?

Perspex is notoriously difficult to get anything to stick to it.
I resealed my hatch, using the primer and 5 years later I just pushed the perspex out of the frame when it started leaking ?.
Many claim their sealant/adhesive will stick to blah blah... they want to sell you it so you take the gamble.
There are specialist sealant/adhesives for plastic but not that many that actually work.
Can you contact jeanneau or parent company beneteau and find out what they use and how they use it?

car windows.
Car windows are glass to which you can make a very strong and permanent bond very easily.
Fish tanks are just siliconed together.
Adhering to plastic can be done but only with the correct adhesive/sealant.
Which ones out of the many that claim to be suitable are exclusively made to bond a specific plastic ? That one would be my choice .
