I just want something simple to cover my windows. I don't really want to put in curtain tracks etc (they are only a small windows!) but thought many of you may have thought out solutions already. In my Land Rover I use magnets sewn in to the material for a bit of privacy ;) It's no good with Ali windows of course :( A tea towel attached by clothes pegs on to the bolts suffices in my Drifter but they are not long enough in the Crabber!

I'm trying not to mess up the interior with lots of holes and **** screwed in all over the place!!

KS came with dinky little roller-blinds on the coachroof windows and the forehatch. The blind rolls up into a sort of plastic cartridge, and the pull-cord hooks into a plastic fitting below the window which holds the blind in place and removes the need for a fiddly locking mechanism in the roller itself. I guess it's probably made for caravans, but it works quite well on the boat. Very easy to open and close, unobtrusive when not in use, no need to find somewhere to stow them.

I don't really want to start sticking velcro on the lining, (would it stick to the frame?) Perhaps a couple of tiny hooks wedged behind the frame (even 2 paperclips might do it hooked onto something hook-able).

Mmm maybe some fishnet stockings :D Well it beats net curtains ;) Think that maybe the solution, the paperclips anyway....

You can buy self adhesive velcro strips.

Stick the hook element to the sides of the window frame
Sew the fluffy bit to your intended curtains.

A couple of tiny blinds maybe OK, not sure how it will look but will investigate... Don't want it looking like a caravan, I think a couple of tiny hooks maybe the way, you wouldn't notice them, less clutter!

our curtains are flat slabs of material with a stainless steel press stud in each corner. Try a search on ebay for Marine press stud canvas. System works well.

Dylan has some closed cell foam things on KTL, or was it the Slug?

Whatever, a piece of foam cut to the shape of the glass which just pushes into place. When they aren't in use there is nothing there.

I cut two circles out of an old foam mattress for the hull portholes but unfortunately there is no recess in the main windows - it's an ideal solution though, no unsightly blinds or patterned curtains to look at and go mouldy! I've done the paisley caravan thing!!

Easy with the wooden slats for the foam to be held in place! Not that you can see much from any of the windows they are quite small but wouldn't want to give any nice girls a shock when I'm trying to get the beast under control in the morning!!!

How about plywood cut to size, padded and covered. Attach to the glass with suction cups.
I'm not a great fan of self adhesive Velcro, with time the glue starts to fail and become tacky, especially in a marine environment.

PS Your boat looks tidy :D

Yes it needs christening, it was hardly used by it's first owner, spent a few years on the hard, and the second owner had it in the water for only 3-4 months of the year, (a toddle down the Tamar and back for it's elderly owners). Having just spent a lot of money on it (new rigging, hull blasted etc!) he noticed the Crabber 26 at SIBS and put a deposit down then and their - good for me, nice for him!

The hull has a few marks from the mooring buoy rubbing I presume, something i will try and avoid - that's another thread but I'll give you all a break for now!! Thanks for the help though.

If you really do not want to make any hole in anything why not fix tiny magnets with a drop of epoxy onto the window frame and then use your magnetic solution.

Or self adhesive ones.

Very clever!!

What about this one, uses a suction cup on the window.
Got one for my hatch

Even more clever!!! You could buy the suction cups separately from Just Kampers & make your own blinds with fabric & a stiff inner!!

You are a bright lot on here :)
