I am trying to track down a windlass solenoid used on an Oceanis 411 in 1999, the markings are Valeo, CEV 19, 12v 198. No luck so far with local motor factors and no reply so far from Valeo. Any ideas?

You should be able to use any suitably rated solenoid, typically any of the windlass ones out there with same motor rating, if you can't get one for the existing windlass.

Any suitable solenoid will do as already stated I think it's about 100A ( that's the fuse on my windlass anyway ).

However I do have one as per the picture off my Goiot windlass, same type that was fitted to my Benne Oceanis of a little older vintage. I removed it and fitted a reversing solenoid.

I could place my hand on the spare old solenoid within minutes of stepping aboard the boat. Trouble is the boat's in Greece. Swap the solenoid for a return airfare to Preveza? :D
