Hallo all, please help.
I have a Lofrans Cayman windlass, foot switches, helm control and a Vega remote control. The foot switches and helm control work ok. The remote works on up but not on down. If I swap over the B2 and B3 connections on the control box, the up switch lets the chain out but the down switch does nothing.
I assumed the remote control was at fault so replaced it with a new one - exactly the same outcome.

Do you think it is the remote and I have been unlucky or am I missing something here? Thanks for any thoughts.

The problem is likely to be in your solenoid switch. It may well be "sticking".

As the motor works both up and down and the other control units (foot switsches and helm control) it must be either the remote control or the connection from remote control to the control box.
As you already replaced the remote control, I think it must be the connection to the control box.

Good luck

With a meter see whether both coils of the solenoid box are making contact.
Often a smart "come right" with the handle of a screwdriver to the solenoid will fix it, but failing that a squirt of (say) WD40 if you open the solenoid will be all the medicine it needs...

Presumably there's a receiver for the remote which contains a couple of relays. Sounds like one of them is knackered. Should be a relatively simple job to solder in a new one.
