Windlass Question

Hi All

I was sorting out my anchor locker today and looked at my windlass unit. I noticed an unconnected cable (pic attached). I can't find anything in the manual to say what it is. Does anyone know if it's for a remote control switch?

Yep thats the reed switch which is controlled by a magnet on the gypsy.
It simply switches at each revolution of the capstan.
A counter can be connected to measure the amount of chain in/out.
