Hi
Could anyone offer a bit of advice please. I have a fairly old electric windlass (up only) which up until recently, did its job without any drama. Now it has become extremely tempremental and cuts out/stops. Even with no load it only turns very slowly. I always use it when I have the engine running and have recently renewed the engine start battery (it uses that one only). I guess in my limited knowledge of things electrical that, it must either be the windlass motor itself thats had it or some how or other there is not enough power/juice getting to it. It appears to be a lofrans and strangley, I can't find anywhere to lubricate/grease it.
I was thinking of changing next season to a new one that allowed me to lower it myself from the cockpit as I do quite a bit of single handed stuff (inc Med mooring) but I had hoped that I could get the current one to see me through until Xmas.
As always, any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
