Windlas service ?

You should be able to find the Quick manual for your windlass online. I was able to for my model. Servicing instructions in there. I doubt they vary too much between the different models if you can't find the exact one - just find the closest.

We don't know how you might be progressing but most windlass are to one of 2 basic designs, vertical or horizontal. I don't know your specific windlass.

If the windlass has never been serviced I'd suggest removing the whole thing, so disconnect the power, and remove the lot. There are no user service points on the motor -but the case might enjoy a clean and maybe a lick of paint - though they the case can corrode from the inside.

The main service point will be the gearbox which is simply bolted to the shaft assembly, there may also be some sort of bayonet fitting to hold the 2 parts roughly together. If you have water in the gearbox you need new seals - otherwise -just check the oil. The bolts holding the whole lot together will need Duralac when you re-assemble. You might need to disassemble to remove - and this might need a lot of patience as the bolts might have seized - and if they have seized you will need a lot of time :(

Windlass are very simple - if the bolts are free it will be easy and quick.
