Hi

I have recently acquired most of a wind vane steering system as shown in these pictures.
There a a few parts missing, as I understand that they were broken in a collision in a marina a long time ago.

Has anyone any idea as to the type of self steering? I know it was built from plans and would like if possible to get it working again.

Any help with identifying the model or locating plans would be appreciated.

Yes, I've got the book - Belcher, I think - with the design details in it. I'll go have a look for the book and see if I can't scan the relevant pages for you. You don't say in what way it isn't working, but if you understand the working of it you should be able to fix it! The original was to be built of ply clad wooden frames using dinghy pintle and gudgeons for articulation. Note that there are balance weights so that the lever arms are in neutral balance.

Back soon, I hope. meantime I'll pm you to get your email address so that I can send you details.

Many thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am missing the bit that looks like a boomerang, and the rod that connects the vane to the "boomerang".
Nothing else appears to be missing and the parts I have are very well made, and need little attention.
