Allegedly wind is now to be recognised as a source of power and with power companies keen to reap the rewards in the same way that they did with North Sea oil.
The government will be introducing a wind tax this will be calculated on the number of Megawatts produced in a given period.
Clearly yachts will not be allowed to use this energy and not pay the tax, the fee allegedly will be calculated on the amount of power you extract based on:

sail area x wind speed (avg) x t where t= time in hours sailed.

Clearly nobody will mind paying this tax as it will be only fair and nobody has as far as I know, come up with a good reason why we shouldn't.

Also we will be able to tell our kids I remember the days when wind was free!

Re: Wind Tax AND....

Will it bear the standard rate of VAT or a concessionary "leisure rating"?

Of course everyone will have to pay extra for electricity as wind farms would obviously have to pay the Wind Tax and then get extra subsidy to remain competitive.

Do you think Gordon will give us a job?

Re: Wind Tax AND....

This is very interesting, I now of several individuals, who in their own right, could become very profitable sources of revenue income if a tax is to be levied on wind!
