Are there wind roses available on the internet which give, for UK waters, the probable wind direction and strength for each month of the year.
Thanks for any leads.

On Windfinder you can find the annual figures for each station: ie. Solent:

Guess you'd have to work your way round an intended passage to get an overall picture?

That is brilliant, thanks. I'd be wary of the solent one though, for some reason it's all southwesterlies but the other points (Wittering, Weymouth) which are nearby show vastly different average directions more in line with my experience while in the solent.

Just to be sure... the one that comes up when you first go in is for May... run your mouse over the little wind arrow on the 'Dominant wind dir.' row and you get a rose for each month... just thought I'd check.

Yes I understand how it works, but the Solent one doesn't show any with much northerly or easterly. May for instance often has predominantly north/east winds as is shown on the neighbouring sites of Wittering and Weymouth which leads me to think the Solent station might not be in an ideal location.

May will have a lot of sea Breeze influence on the average, and the Solent's sea breeze is a SW.

Thanks Flaming that would probably explain it given the location of Solent MRSC on the map. If that's the case though these may not be quite as useful as I thought for passage planning where you'd want the prevailing wind rather than localised effects?

Admirality routeing charts have them for the whole world all year.
Pilot books tend to have them in greater detail but larger time spacing, 3 months I think. These are obviosly not on the internet legaly. But I think the US versions are.
