Wind indicator blown away, recognise the part?

I've been to my boat today and discovered that the port side, close hauled indicator has blown away. Not the best photo, I'm afraid. Wind was on starboard quarter, sun was on port quarter. You can just see what looks like half of the port side close hauled indicator is there. The wind indicator is integral with the vhf radio aerial. Boat is a fairly new Benny.

I use a mast ladder but I'm not going up there until she's back in the water. So I have a couple of weeks to get the new parts.

Anyone recognise the unit or had the same problem?

Are spares available or will I have to buy a complete new unit?

Any help or advice gratefully appreciated.

Standard Windex on a Vitronix, I think antenna. Spares are available from most chandlers. Still have to get it down of course, or fix it in situ if you have steady nerves.

Its a V-Tronix Hawk ... basically a (Great ?) Hawk wind indicator combined with a V-Tronix antenna

Hawk not a Davis Windex 15 I am sure but if Tranona sys its a Windex I could be wrong ....athough I do have a Hawk on my own boat!

The ones that go with the V-Tronix are plastic and held in place by a s/s self tapper.

but not cheap at £29.50 for the 'kit'. I don't think you can get parts individually, I know to my cost

Think you are right it is a Hawk. Anyway the arms come in a kit as Ladyinbed says. Not cheap but cheaper than a whole new unit.

I'll contact both the Beneteau dealer and Hawk Marine. It looks like the missing one has broken along its shaft.........strange

£29.50 is a "bargain" compared to last years wind loss. It cost almost £40 to buy a replacement instrument cover for a Quick chain counter. Robbing barstewards.

I lost my Windex arm due to a seagull landing on it, so something similar may have occurred with yours.

As VicS suggests, its worth contacting the manufacturers for when I did the nice people at Windex actually sent me two replacement tabs free of charge from Sweden- you never know, Hawk may be just as compassionate

The fitting to the aerial looks more like V-Tronix Hawk to me but I reckon the actual vane assemblies are the same!

That's original Hawk .. The one on the aerial is the larger Great Hawk.

I always take mine off for the winter ... but it pre-dates and is separate from the aerial.

This happened to me last year. Bought a whole kit and used one arm. Therefore I have most of a Vitronix if you can identify which bits you need.

Fitting it is going to be fiddle if you are planning to do it in situ. Only one little screw to holds the arm but it really is small and half way up the antenna where its difficult to reach and nothing but the other arm to hang onto!

Read the assembly and fitting instructions before you tackle it.
