Wind Greece: mobile data offer on prepaid SIM

The WIND deal

I have just swapped my Vodafone mobile card for a WIND card - only problem I couldn't migrate my Vodafone number, because I have no Greek tax no. If I'd changed supplier, with my No, there was no charge.

Strictly speaking I should have paid €5 for the SIM, but WIND waived that.

The 1.5Gb data for free is fact - calls between you and WIND numbers are free - charges to landlines are higher than Vodafone but other tariffs similar.

As the network cells are mostly shared between the suppliers I'd doubt there is any difference in reception.

And I can do away with that damned Huawei USB modem, insensitive, power-hungry and with bulky, balky software.

WIND deal update

Well the local WLAN went down and I've just got on via WIND cellular using an EDGE capable Nokia.

Its running at 480kbps, which is a lot faster then the municipal WLAN, which is off net right now.

Almost fast enough to use video Skype.

So it's all real...

PS Nearly forgot - you've got no means of auto checking your usage to date - any over the top costs you €0.006/Mb. In fact a lotless than you'd pay in UK.

it's not perfect, but will give a good indication, and has the benefit that you can tell it which day to reset, and try to predict usage patterns and if you will go over limit - warnings can be custom set
