Wind Generators

air x

I have an Air X about three years old is yours a new Breeze as mine makes so much noise below it is not possible to use the aft cabin on my Westerly Corsair, I have it mounted on rubber blocks and like yours supports down to the pushpit. The wind noise of the blades is so bad I have to turn it off in marina, I guess it tends to keep boats away in anchourages as they are well known for being noisey, I am having trouble with mine at the moment it keeps turning itself off even though the batteries are well down, and when I turn it off at the switch it still comes on and off I have attempted to increase the setting by turning the adjusting screw clockwise but it when I turned it the whole unit turned I oiled the screw and tightened the lock screw and then adjusted it again but now it runs for a while then starts nocking on and off making a terrible row, have you any ideas Please.

That sounds like a lot, it may be worth looking at additional insulation to make it more efficient. I have a small fridge it pulls up to 5A when on but averages 1A/h in the UK.
Yes I'd agree - mine pulls about 25-35 Ah over 24 hours in 32C ambient.

Because it increases consumption when system volts are high amps are misleading, but with over 13.9v and and at supercool it starts at 5.8 amps and goes down after the start spike. On normal battery voltage it uses about 3.8 amps when running - for about 12/60 minutes. Opening the lid to get things out or put them in doubles the consumption so I allow 20-35 ah in 24 hours

No, mine is about six years old and produced before the Air Breeze came out, which is a lower output system (200W as opposed to the 400W Air-X).

Both units are externally similar and as yours is newer I am surprised you get so much noise as I was assured by the vendor (eMarine of Florida) that South West, the manufacturer, had re-designed the blades to reduce the noise. It hasn't disappeared by a long chalk, but I find it absolutely supportable - and I'm really sensitive about noise.

As I posted on another thread (link in my earlier post) I did lightly fine sand my blades (a tip I had read elsewhere) to remove the moulding ridges that I had heard contribute to the air disturbance and resultant noise.

According to the posters on the Liveaboard forum on which the OP double posted, there is a Portuguese company, Sprega Lda, who make blades for this unit and which reduces the noise drastically. Perhaps you should look into that.

But from what you report, you have other problems with this unit if you cannot achieve a proper charge when required. It is necessary to have the correct wiring, circuit breaker, and switching. I bought the entire package - generator, switch panel with integrated switches, circuit breaker and ammeter, together with all mast and strut mountings and it went together easily and worked from day one. I suspect you need to get a technical check on your installation.
