Wind Forecasts on Kindle

In case you are not aware, the 3G connection can only be used to access Amazon or to receive email for which you will be charged. You will need a wifi connection to use the web browser for any other sites or to receive email free of charge.

Have they changed the T&Cs, I've been accessing email and browser sites for two years, both in France and UK, via 3G, and have not been charged.

Following numerous postings pointing out that the web browser CAN be used with the 3G connection I have edited my original posting. Sorry for the confusion. I think that I read about the limitation when I was buying my first Kindle and had not bothered to check since.

It is still the case in some countries, I believe, where Amazon's negotiations with the local phone companies didn't go so well. The list is shrinking though - at one point Portugal was a "no 3G web access for Kindles" country, but by the time I was there 18 months ago it was available.
