I have used them and they work well. Don't know how durable they are. Not sure about them for use in hot climates.

I have used them for several years on Genoa winches. They are very effective if you put on sufficient turns. But you need to remove a turn occasionally as they don't self-unwind at the top like the real thing.

I have some since .... at least 15 years, in the med. Still going strong, although not as strong as new ones.
Pleased with them, although not as good as genuine self tailers.
You get what you pay for!

I found that OK.....
so long as you could let the tail fall down the hatch.
Great idea at a fraction of the cost of full STers. Had them on the last boat and they were a great help when single/short handed. New boat has full S/T Harkens which are nice but even then you don't get to choose where the tail falls from.

Can you not adjust the position of the tailing bit? - I thought it was adjustable - it is on my Andersons - perhaps you have to rotate the whole winch on its mounting holes on Harkens?(assuming they are equi-spaced on their PCD).
