Last night whilst pulling in a rope at a high angle, the winch which it was around came apart on me. It is one of those held together by a retaining circlip at the top, this circlip is now missing. As the winch appears to be an Italian make that I have not heard, are these circlips a standard size. They would appear to be so going on a cusory look around the other winches.

This company in Sheffield may have what you are looking for.

You will have to accurately measure the groove to decide which one you need.

Barbarossa ?

I think Harken took over one of the Italians, might be worth giving their service dept in Lymington a bell, you never know!

If it's an Antal winch then you can get the circlip here:

Lewmar circlips also fit, at least on size 16 winches .

The bad news is that I have lost 4 circlips from my Antal ST16s and have had to resort to using them without the self-tailing facility to prevent the problem recurring with the risk of loosing the barrel overboard. I emailed the previous Antal UK distributor (not Marineware who have taken over) , trying to resolve the problem but received no response. IMHO, they are an appalling product and I sorely regret not spending more for Harken or Lewmar.
