Will this seat cover backing survive a machine wash?

I want to wash my (12 year old) seat covers.
The outer fabric is woven, but the backing seems to be made of a sort of compressed fibre (see pic), which looks a bit like a very thin felt.
Does anyone know if this will survive a cool wash in the machine?

Speaking from experience don’t wash them, dry clean them. Cue everyone else who has washed them without a problem

Have you got a good upholsterer locally you can talk this over with?

Looks very much like our Bavaria cushions. If they are, then yes, they machine wash fine (and loads of grime came out), but there is a batten in the seat ones that is a bit of a pain to remove, as ours was glued in as well as held by the twine pulling it down (best tool is a crochet hook).
