Does seem a bit big for the area. I watched Juno sailing around Blakeney Harbour and it seemed a good size for the place and there's enough sheltered water for a sail in most weathers even if they can't go out to sea. They only offer £1500 day trips though so perhaps Cabby could motor out for a little sail and offer multiday trips drying out behind Scolt head Island, with the right marketing could charge very serious money around there.

This guy charges nearly a grand a day for his visually perfected instagram ready tours PLAN & BOOK — CEC He used to offer overnighters for even more eye watering amounts. (lovely boat admittedly) Price of a small bilge keeler though I remember thinking when I read it sitting in the bilge keeler I'd bought for the summer

I'm in the wrong business

Edit: although when I think about the limited season, maintenance costs, staffing costs... the price doesn't seem to bad.

Wells is quite a meander down the river from the town quay, then you have the Bar which is frequently horrible/dangerous, and the shallow seabed outside has various features which make unpleasant overfalls. Adding those together, I'm guessing it would severely cut into your available charter days.
I hope they do make it work, Wells is more of a challenge than Whitstable though. The council seem to have done the place up, and the place is apparently going upmarket as a bijou resort, so fingers crossed for the Cabby.
 
That whole area is stupidly expensive, no way to find a cheap room. Except for the caravan park next to Wells. Not photogenic people come from the north and midlands spoiling Londoners instagram pictures. Wells town planners must be wrestling with the problem of how remove the caravans and replace them with ethical sourced carbon neutral glamping yurts for people with more money than sense as that is the demographic everyone else in the town will love to welcome to their business

That said I had one of the Wells habour buoys for the whole summer for the price of a week in Ramsgate, so its not all bad.
 
Seem to recall CABBY was once owned by Mr Tony Winter who was managing director of Crescent shipping in the 1960s ?
