Off up river for the BH weekend friday but with all the rain I am worried we wont get under Cookham lock cut bridge. Last sunday we had about 4" clearance.

You can check the river level for Cookham Lock on the EA web site at http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/floods/riverlevels/120786.aspx?stationId=7162
Of course, you need to know what the level is that you require for your boat but at least you can see how it is fluctuating.

Yes , i remember that Richard. 
I also remember climbing onto the bridge from the flybridge of a boat and jumping back on the other side.
If he pulls the sluices hard on the head gates it will drop it a good few inches , and then if you are brave you can get through.

There are two threads live at the moment about Cookham lock cut and it's beginning to sound like this is a classic case of being caught between a rock and a hard place.
If the water level drops you run aground (rock) and if the water level is up you hit the bridge (hard place) !
I'd phone a friend if I were you - thats the lock keeper who will tell you what's happening to the level.
Whatever you do, don't ask the audience ..........

Got under on Friday no problem, spent a relaxing weekend above Hurley lock.
There was only one issue yesterday at Marlow lock when I asked a boat move up so we could wait for the lock this toss pot replied it wont be long till he opens the gate. Needless to say I requested he moved again which he did. He was an experienced boater who should know better!
