will i get a mooring in Mersea next Friday and Saturday

Blimey, you do ask some tough questions. Yesterday taking Gks down to the Club, I couldn't park in either of the two club car parks so ended up returning car to garage and cycling back down - which I should have done from the start.

The public car park - which is too small anyway - is closed on Saturday because it's too close to the fireworks. Assume the yacht club car parks will be full because they are too small anyway. That means parking up in the village and walking down. See here for parking restrictions http://www.mersearegatta.org.uk/
The road from The Victory will be closed as there will be stalls out in the road which at least makes the third of the walk interesting. Pretty much everyone including the grockles walk down for the fireworks. The nearest residential street which is practical for parking apart from those listed for one sided parking is Yorick Road (one side only).

Unlike some of the tosh about fireworks posted earlier from people who don't know, expect a pretty impressive 5 grand display. The stalls are usually worth a visit - local brewery/vineyard, oysters, seafood and Maggie with her jewellery - those are assumptions as they are usually there. Then there are bands etc.

If you are prepared to walk from the town - Yorick Road pm me as I can tell you where you will definitely get parked. Actually I suspect I know where there will possibly be a mooring but it is not close - not close at all.

Best view of the inshore events is from the front of or in front of the Yacht Club which as a visiting yachtie will be open.

Rumour has it that they will be doubling the mooring fee to help pay for it too!!!!

If you don't understand how it is financed, you really ought not to comment! Bloddy tosh.

The fireworks are part of the Town Regatta and has nothing to do with the moorings. The fireworks are entirely financed by voluntary donations collected ashore on the evening. Always have been.

Fair play the Mersea apres regatta fireworks have always been quite good...in fact most would say a whole lot better than the sailing ;)
