Will anyone be around this weekend !!!!
I cannot take it anymore, all this snow and how inadequate this country is at planning, so I have a plan. I have bought a “new to me” boat, a Duellist 32, and am desperate to go and play in the relative safety of the Blackwater this Saturday and Sunday. Yes I know it is COLD but it’s either going out on the boat or championship trials sidecar practice and SWTSIIC has given me the thumbs up !!!!! so this is the plan :- slip Tollesbury marina at 9 am and motor out to the Nass beacon do a few passes up and down the Blackwater in the deep channel to get the feel of the boat and to inspire a little trust in boat, skipper and crew. Then put the main up, reef well down and continue up and down, and with confidence building roll a bit of Genoa out and keep on enjoying things until it is time to go into Bradwell Marina for a berth for a night and then up to the pub for a well earned malt(no ice)and a few pints and perhaps even a small piece of cow , socialize , sleep. In the morning slip Bradwell marina for about 9.30am for a bit of a sail and then into Tollesbury to be over the sill for 11am. The boat draws 1.2m or 3’8” in old money with the keel lifted. What is the procedure in coming into Bradwell and who should I contact? Where do I pay and ill there be anyone about? If there is anyone who would like to join me let me know or if any of you would like to give any advice other than “stay in the warm” it would be appreciated. I have studied the charts for too long and really do want to find out what is out there. Andy
