wifi range extender

I have a Samsung internet tv on the boat this has a usb socket on it so would I just plug the item into the usb on my tv and this will improve the free wifi that the marina provide ??????????

I have read the spec but it may as well be in Russian as it means nothing to me :(

No, you would need a USB socket on a laptop to run the software.
edit..
Actually, I don't know about smart tvs. If you can download and run the software then maybe? (probably not though).

This generates a wifi hotspot of your own.

This boosts the wifi signal to it

Then anybody who has your password can connect to your own hotspot (with ipads, phones, laptops) and share the marina's boosted wifi signal.
Not easy to set up but once it's done you just switch it on and use it. I can talk you through it if you get stuck.
It uses 12v so you can hard wire it if you want to.

I use the same setup, works well on 12v. Total cost about sixty quid. Gives a hotspot for all devices on the boat, and neighbouring boats if you let them. Was in France this year for four months had WiFi in all places I visited. On a couple of occasions from nearby hotels with open networks.

Raf I have tethered to my phone but as stated it hammers the battery and I don't have unlimited usage my wife has unlimited but is with gifgaf and they don't allow tethering

Giffgaff do allow tethering but there are some conditions attached to it. I believe you can order a gigabag or somesuch that will allow it.

Following Ogaryos advice I fitted the Alfa R36 plus Tube N Aerial booster with marine grade aerial. About £100, but I noticed this website offering what looked like the same kit for £86.

You need the wifi passwords for any Access Points you find, so if its a pub a quick enquiry wil find it, but like being in the living room next to my Tivo box once connected. Very neat layout.

Only annoyance is setting up can be a pain sometimes. All works of 12volts DC or 240v from an adaptor.
