wifi network on board (again)

The Model WL-USBWIFIRPT-3000 shown in the link looks exactly the same as an Alfa R36 (apart from being about 33% more expensive). The R36 re-broadcasts the signal from an Alfa USB adapter but also has a port for Ethernet connection and should work in the same way. However, the R36 is described as "not consumer friendly".

Agreed, it looks identical to my Alpha R36.

I would not describe it as "not user friendly" but it does take a little getting used to.

Very pleased with mine, bought from Cricual Wifi.

+1 on CrucialWifi, one man operation as far as I know but prices and service good (self & 3-4 friends who've also used him).

I took the "not user friendly" bit from CrucialWifi site. I wouldn't have any trouble but think that he must have had a few complaint from some purchasers in the past.

I've seen 2-3 bits of kit in past 12 months aimed at yachty market but actually just Alfa kit made waterproof and priced accordingly. Standard cheapo AWUS036H is fine (& better anyway for most people than AWUS036NH). Don't expect more than 5nm range under good conditions at anchor but always greatly improves performance greatly in most marinas.
