WIFI in Licata Marina?

We use Tim , so I understand from other that do use it , it fine when it working , but it seen to go down a lot and the people who do use it seen for ever going to the office to have it re set .

Vic, go into the Tim shop and ask about the 35 euro deal! As you know we're power hungry due to business needs.

Yep fouling is an issue in Licata, hulls get messy too...
Very funny ,
I will do next time it up for an renew .
We will drive down over next few weeks and see you .
We missing your singing at the jams nights .

Is there no possibility of picking up a bit of 'free' wifi in Licata from any cafes, bars or unsecured places? Adding a monthly charge for wifi on can make a cheap marina a lot more expensive than it first appears. We have a good antenna and have had wifi from over four nm across open water so would be interested to know if anyone in Licata is bypassing the pay services and doing the same?

We were supposed to be in Licata this year but ended up in Lefkas due to a high level of CBA'd aboard the boat. It's a possibility for next winter but we like to do the sums first and free wifi is a big plus for us.

Oh and another question. Carmel2 are you the Carmel that we were with in Ag Nik?

The only wifi is in the bar in the town , a coffee with buy you an hour or so of Internet , but if you work it out it cheaper to buy a month Internet .
If the price of Internet makes the different between a cheap marina or not , then Licata not for you , it not the Internet you need to worry about .

Thats not what I really meant , the 210 E is the less of your problem , the winter fees are good but then there a big add on , The fouling and I am not talking about the dogs (Sam haha ) means that most of the boat are going to have to lifted out before they leave ,If they want to move under engine let alone under sail and the cost here for just a lift out and wash is over 800E add that on to the marina fees and it put a different picture on it .
after says that the marina is places in a very good and safe harbour , we had some big blow without any problems .

Its my observation, and that of others here, that the availability of free, unprotected WiFi services has diminished almost to the point of invisibility. Where it can be found my experience has been that the service is usually unreliable and slow. As we depend more and more on internet access for our daily lives, having reliable service becomes more important. Combine that with reasonable cost for data using an in-country SIM and the case for going that route becomes very strong. I'd suggest, based on last year, that 10Gb for two laptops is plenty and leaves enough for a few of hours of TV streaming (c. 600Mb/hr)each month.

When we get back to Licata in a couple of weeks I'll be trying a new WiFi extender, replaced the Bullet 2 with an Alfa Tube. The Bullet doesnt do 11n and the Tube looks to be the same hardware as the Bullet M2 at half the price. I suspect we'll still end up using TIM though for reliability. We'd been using WIND but that didnt work well in Sicily.
