I have finally found a WIFI kit supplier who has full marks in all aspects of service.

I have used a directional WIFI antenna in the past but this year I decided to splash
out on an omni directional antenna, booster and a wireless router. Big spender!

I scoured the yacht forums and was attracted by positive comments made about
a London based company called Crucial WIFI.

I described what I thought I wanted. This included connectivity with an Android based
tablet. At some point in my emails, I mentioned the kit was to be used on a boat. Having
considered my requirements, a three part configuration was suggested.

a) a powerful omni directional antenna. Crucial JCF-2400-15 - a 15 dBi Omni Outdoor Antenna.
b) a signal booster. Tube-U(N) a long-range wireless 802.11b/g/n booster.
and c) a wireless router for Android connectivity. Alfa R36 wireless router.
...along with additional cabling.

All arrived within thirty six hours.

There is more. In the event I decided to use a Windows XP o/s laptop and did not need the router.
I arranged for its return and received my refund by return.

If like me you despair of good after sales service, Crucial were fantastic.

And it works. I have achieved access to BT hot spots which I knew were there but could not
reach with my previous kit.

Same success with them, fast dispatch, on it straight away when an email with delivery address went awry, good bunch.
They have an ebay shop as well.

BTW, much impressed with the R36, pulling 0.3A @ 12v plugged into the batts powering an Alfa adapter as well, sucks in the "one computer only" wifi signal and spits it out again for tablet, smart phone , laptops, kindle etc

+1 it's a great device, once the logon and password have been entered for a secure connection it remembers them so it only needs powering up to work again.

+1 for Crucial WiFi. I told several people in UK and Spain that I'd used them and they seemed reliable. I haven't heard of any problems yet. I say "they", but am pretty certain that it is still a one man business. This can lead to problems if there's a sudden jump in demand. But it does mean he has a vested interest in sorting out any problems quickly. I'll certainly continue to use Crucial WiFi (either direct via web-site or his eBay outlet).

I've used them for memory DIMMs and found they're both efficient, economical and efficient.

Sure that was the same company? Crucial the memory people are a large international company, this wifi outfit sounds like a one-man-band.

(Nowt wrong with the memory company, though)

Missed the DIMMS reference, I'd don't think CrucialWiFi advertises these for sale. I think that Charles has probably mixed them up with Crucial as prv suggests.

Crucial were great for memory but on the expensive side. I used to buy up to £12k from them each year but that was a long time ago. They always delivered very quickly and never quibbled about the odd dud item (but only 2-3 over several years anyway).
