Finally Mrs Jim spots a boat she approves of...

What am I to do. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

No way can I refit a Centaur to that standard. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There's no accounting for women it seems. Mrs Skiver and I were looking at boats at the Tolesbury used boat show a few years ago ago and the one she liked the best was an old wooden Folkboat. All ribs on show and very basic accomodation. I thought that she'd run a mile but she liked it
more than any other boat we went aboard.

Not enough to let me buy it though!

Hi Jim,

I know the problem

Walking along the marina at Port Solent - we're both looking at boats - her favourites are all gin palaces mine all have sticks!

Father in law is looking at a sub-30 foot mobo, SWMBO keeps suggesting we go halves (with the implication being that it will be the only way into boat ownership for me!)

So... I'm working on father in law to convince him of the merits of sail (espcially when they do away with red diesel) with a fall back position of keep crewing for other people. Could be worse - at least I'm allowed out to play on the water!

How was your non-boating holiday?

Cheers,

. . Greg

Hi Greg,

I'm afraid my wife can not contemplate "roughing" it as she calls it.

The holiday was pretty good. Fantastic weather, blue seas and cold beer.

Headed to 2 places advertising sailing dingy hire... both of which had stopped hiring out dinghies, so i got fed up and gave up on that.

But I did make sure we took in as many boaty sights as we could... even wondered round the chandlers at St Eulalia.

So...

That's more like it.

These fenders probably cost more than my boat

Almost as busy as Newtown Creek on a Bank Holiday.

If it's a yacht share you are after.

I'm also going to drop you an email.

All the best

Jim

Picture looking from main cabin area to forepeak .... my racer just sold !!

Re: Wooden ribs .....

You mean that isnt a racer then Nigel? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Looks like youv'e got some work on the carpets

Re: Wooden ribs .....

stripped out to bare bones race spec !! Ok photo was taken just after launch and cox is fitting gear back in ...

In summer the cabin had that timber aroma that is unique ....

I am really sorry to see her go - but she is in good hands and will win more races ......

She was fast not by being light-weight - but design ... she didn't so much carve through the water ....... she slipped through it !!

Well hopefully later Ridas 31 & 35 should be gracing the UK waters and showing a few how to win !!!!
