Anyone called in at Wicklow this year?

I heard that fishing boats had taken over the space on the breakwater wall, and that it was difficult to find a berth further inside the harbour.

Last time (2001) we were there, it was easy to go against the well boarded wall, and we thoroughly enjoyed the welcome. Great visit to the "Jail"!

More space in Arklow then?

Thanks for responding so quickly.

Does the fact that the Arklow FVs have moved north mean that there is wall space available in the old harbour in Arklow? We have visited the 'new' marina there, but found it a bit tight. Mind you, there was no marina side housing or very little other development then!

Re: kilmore??

not sure of your route but often sail from kilmore quay and its not bad as a mid journey stopping point but not really as a destination. Some good restos there too, make sure you follow the leading lights in btw, the rocks on st patricks bridge are a wee bit nasty

Kilmore Quay

Thanks for replying.

KQ is a place I have planned to visit in the past but never quite made it - best not to plan, I guess - as weather and limited holiday periods often dictate otherwise.

Might try and head that way over the Bank Holiday at the end of August.

Re: More space in Arklow then?

Unfortunately the Wexford mussel dredgers are all in Arklow at the moment! There is normally plenty of room on the pontoon in the river just past the marina entrance.

Thanks for update! Beginning to sound like 'no room at the Inn'!

Never mind, there's inevitably space for a litle one.
