Wi-Fi on board

I use my iPhone as a hotspot for my ipad and waterproof android tablet, both running Navionics and SavvyNavvy.

So to sum up:
some don’t like the we we access AIS
lots of people talked about different types of remote Wi-Fi hubs
but NOBODY answered the question, is using your phone to piggyback your Wi-Fi on board! Could someone please address this question? Thanks!

In response to the original question, some providers restrict the amount of data available when ‘hot spotting’ and depending on what devices are involved in the loop it can be significantly slower than using a hub of some sort.

Unlimited on 3 (OP’s network) and most other large UK networks. Some less mainstream plans/providers don’t allow it at all, apparently.
