wi-fi anyone got anntena hadbook?need spaceing to make a yaggi??

On my "compact" cruiser bookshelf space is at a premium and my anntena handbook just dident get looked at often enough!

I need to make a yaggi wi-fi antena becouse im only finding weak signals and its no use asking the capitanerie to turn up the power cos they have a system run by someone else!!

Could someone please give me the length element spaceing for a new wi-fi antenna please???

at the moment i have to sit on an uncomfortable boladrd on a busy road to use a strong wi-fi conection!! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thats great those are the elements whats the spaceing between each elemnt?

Why dose the speed drop with distance? i would have thougt if the signal was 11mbps it would stay at that but mine drops to 5 then 1 mbps before stopping when theres a 30% signal strength??

Whats the frequency of the wi-fi signal? Ive forgoten is it 2.4 megs? I hope your winter down there is as walm as mine up hear!

Just a guess re speed over distance but maybe the further the distance the more error checking/handshaking takes place resulting in lower overall speed.

Thanks again for the sizes i will begine to put together a yaggi my last wi-fi anttena has for he moment been borrowed!I had no idea i would need it now!

Whats wrong with a good antenna ,linea say 20w and a good recever to feed the PC?I got to much sun today!!

Standing in town with my PPC untill the batterys down then sitting on a bolard with my laptop!!It not so big and IBM X40 which has the small 12 inch screen but still amazing how many people were looking over my sholder!!Never mind i was in the center by the cafes miserably the wi-fi signal missed them!

ANY suggestions about makeing my new anntena??

Ill have to buy a motor boat!! All my estimates to get from a to b are weeks out!!!I never allow for stopping at really pleasent places and when without costs oh dear!!!
