Why won't my Raymarine e95 display depth in metres

Now after all these years of conditioning I can only think and visualise in metres and not the old feet and inches from my school days. However, when I try and select metres in the configuration menu to show chart depth in metres it automatically switches back to good old feet.

Yes, I have reported it to Raymarine and I got what must be the standard answer - save all your data and reset back to factory defaults. like a good little boy I did so and ... no difference. Emailed back RM, radio silence. I hate that - not even an acknowledgment. So, is there anyone out there with a e95 or similar that has managed to configure metres for chart depth?

I don't know about your device but my Raymarine depthsounder has the option of Metres on the menus but but will only actually show feet. In the manual it says "(METERS settings are only available in CE models)" . This may be the case with your plotter.

Our depth metres are fine (RM C125). But our distance and speed switch spontaneously to km and kph every so often - on plotter and individual instrument heads. Initially, couldn’t change them back on the plotter but after doing so on heads it’s easy to change. Have given up trying to fix now as rare enough for me to get a little thrill each time I notice we seem to be doing about 12 ‘knots’, before the penny drops...

I run a Gamin plotter and have needed to set it to "Custom" to get nautical miles for distance and everything else in metric. For some reason our American cousins are still using old fashioned feet and inches.
