Why is my 5000 Autopilot display giving a different heading......

....from my Sat nav, my Ipad and my old fashioned compass.
It is about 12 degees out.
Never actually spotted this before .
Is there something fiendishly complicated that needs adjusting ?

Have you tried recalibrating the autohelm compass? Means going round in a circle a few times. My smartpilot x-5 never has the same heading as the compass, etc but I don't think that it is 12 degrees out. Have you checked for anything new next to the autohelm compass or even something put there out of the way. That throws the compass out, as I found out a few years back .......

Not complicated, just need to calibrate it instructions here at chapter 7. Hopefully I have the correct manual if not they are all on the Raymarine site.

Your autopilot gets heading from its fluxgate compass mounted somewhere on board. It is possible that something near is affecting it.

Thanks all ......will investigate further.
Will attempt to discover fluxgate location first.
Pretty certain has been like it since bought boat.
Going to read that manual.
