Why is it called a joker valve?

Jabsco were intending to call it a 'choker valve' but found the name was registered in hydraulics technology. So they called it a Joker valve.
But surely Jabsco merely bought other companies' toilet designs by buying the companies. Raritan and Simpson Lawrence toilets also have joker valves, so how can Jabsco be credited with coming up with the name?

I think the original name came from joke shop raspberry blowing valves: not all joker valves are three-sided, many are single slit just like a whoopee cushion noise-maker.

Must dig out the spare one to show any new crew what they have to deal with if they fail to pump diligently...............
