Re: Blower!

Cant think of out more boaty than WNS, maybe scupper should write us out a script for us to follow.

Yes, there nowt to write about, it's all wind and rain, never the less, we've had a few trips round Devon/Corwall, then Plymouth to Conwy, then loads of other stuff, all posted here, with photo's and film.

Whats super sruffer done, F All but winge.

Yes, well I've had expert tuition on that from reading WNS on this forum.

That's just not fair scrubber. Post an interesting tale or some boating info or some boating pictures. HLB was right when he said earlier that this isn't the BBC; it's DIY and you have to put some effort in please

Re: Blower!

Well with that kind of welcoming attitude it really isn't surprising that the number of people posting in here has dropped right off, and that this forum (as other people have pointed out before) is dying on its feet...

Re: Blower!

Whadoyer want a welcome for, you've made 500 and odd replys, but your input is nill. Do you want a wecome each time. thanks for reading what I've sweated over, sorry you did not like it. Or what.

The reason the forum is a travasty from it's former self, is two fold. One, it keeps being divided up, by thames forums, bristol channel forums and the rest.

Secondly, most of the new folk dont add any INPUT, just want ANSWERS to there PROBLEMS. And some one else to do the donkey work,

JFM and I have tried hard, among a few others, to keep interest alive. Scrubber, look to your self. Your a [--word removed--].

Yes it's dying on it's feet, has been far before you came along. But then folk like you dont add anything much, the forum only works on input, as I said before.

Now a bit of, how do I mend this, is ok, we can deal with that. But mostly thats for PBO. MOBO is mainly for, well MOBOING, you done any of that?? Dunno.

It's a bit like being in the pub, sort of, work yer way in and get folks to like you. Add something to the conversation, agree with them for a bit, then add something.

Walking in, then first thing you say is. This pub is crap.

Wont get alot of positive responce. So please find another pub.

Seems you're a whinger and not a doer. Hlb's wns were proper actual situations and jfm has posted lots of interesting pics. And your contribution to Mobo in recent months - something about Lidl curries!! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Re: Blower!

HLB...........you really are an aggressive bu66er!

Leave him alone, there is no need for that tone at all!
My kitchen sink pictures were a cracking addition to the forum anyway so you need'nt start on me either!

N.B. The forums not dead or dying anyway.............just a bit slow. The summer weather has been shite, we are all paying loads for boating that basically isnt happening like we hoped it would, and you and various other 'Posters Of Old' may well have seen it. done it, heard it , etc before, but a lot of us havent!

I echo another man's sentiments when verbal abuse gets dished out who really likes reading it?

Re: Blower!

Mmmm...
In principle I agree that aggressive replies never solved or clarified any matter.
On the other had, when somebody post a thread just to ask "wake me up when its over", well, we all know from the start where it'll lead - which is obviously nowhere.
And nonsense threads are exactly what kill a forum, even more than the absence of threads.
So, I guess that hlb can be excused for his tone after all, considering that he was replying to someone who pointed out that the forum is dying in the very same thread that he started, a thread whose only aim (if any) is exactly to kill the forum... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

in support of HLB

Hey Argonaut you have to read HLB's posts taking account of his style. He wasn't being aggressive or harsh, just speaking from the heart in a late night post. HLB says what he thinks, calls a spade a spade, and contributes absolutely loads of info and entertainment to this forum.

I've little sympathy for superscruffer. He makes few useful posts and thread starts. That in itself is perfectly fine. I often briefly surf onto other forums to get a bit of info, read up on stuff, then leave often without even registering. All perfectly fine, one of the fantastic things about the net.

But Superscrubber's "crime" in this case is, having made little input, to criticise other posters for being boring. He behaves as if he has paid good money for a ticket to the theatre and isn't being entertained enough. You just can't do that. This is DIY-ville as HLB said; it needs input. Superscruffer has been asked to input but wont. I wouldn't dream of going to another forum (or pub), looking up some useful info and then make a post telling everyone they were boring me, even if they were. How rude. Forums, and the ordinary folk who post on them, have no duty to entertain me for free.

Yes anyone should feel free to make as little or as much input on here as they wish, even to lurk silently, all ok, but someone who makes little input and then says it's boring shouldn't feel unfairly treated if someone like HLB gives them a piece of his mind. All imho :-)

Edit - in fact come to think of it, following the "I'm bored" pleas from superscrubber, I made a post last night with lots of pics, it took 15mins and had a thread title clearly directed to superscrubber's complaints. Superscrubber has been on here with a number of posts since i made that thread, yet he didn't contribute anything to it, not even one word of thanks.

Yeah, thanks JFM & HLB for being so childishly insulting - really encourages people to post on here doesn't it? Of course I'm going to post on here with the kind of nasty attitude you are displaying.

We saw exactly the same thing with Arny's posts about his round Britain trip - a few people didn't like him and his posts, so they ganged up on him to get rid of him. Who lost out? We all did. Yeah thanks and well done guys...

Re: in support of HLB
