Re: Why don\'t marinas....

Hair dryers, somewhere to wash brushes out - some do
Somewhere to freeze ice packs - would be an idea. Last time my crew went out for some ice from a supermarket, he came back with ice cream, all that was available and cheaper than the previous lot of ice. Only problem came later: what to do with 4 litres of melted ice cream.
Do they think we all run superyachts with separate generators and fridges?

Never thought I'd be recommending MDL but fair praise where it's due.... they do provide nice (individual) shower/toilet cubicles at Hamble Point which have hairdryers in them (when they haven't been nicked apparently)! They also have a freezer where they sell ice from and they let me chill down a bottle once. Not sure about brushes though, probably not the kind of thing they aim to cater for!

The perfect Marina will, as they take your lines, (!)ask "any laundry today Sir?" Whisk your sailbag full of mankey wearing apparal away and return it next day, clean, dry and sweet smelling.
I dont need my hair drying, to thin and to short, I no longer clean brushes, God bless foam brushes and rollers, but.the cruising ritual of hours in the launderette once or twice a week irritates the bejesus out of me,,,,,,,,,,, I'll pay, I really will, very happy to, if only someone will relive me of this burden.

My dear Ian....

Come to the jewel of mudland and I shall personally take your lines and laundry bag and launder your mankey gear with my own fair hands......:)

(For a fee, of course.........)

I suppose the fact is that most modern boats require neither paint nor varnish nor Deksolja nor any other such substance. Fibreglass, veneer and a little bare teak.....We too use rollers and foam brushes, but a washplace that doesn't mind mucky would be nice. The ladies facilities in most marinas are not the answer......

Consider yourself booked,,,,,,,,,,,, :)
You might like to take a look at the ladys loo at Heybridge Basin. I know the Gents has a big sink in which I scrub fenders and so forth. No worries just as long as you (I) clean up afterwards. Launderette too, but you have to DIY,,,,,,, boooring.
