Matt!!!!!!!!! what the hell were you thinking???!!!!!!!! lols :)

I just found this great video on YouTube of a boater who likes going out in the rain (a change from all the sun worshippers). The YouTube account seems to be called Lisilou Lou.

(I particularly like the sound of the rain, with the regular beat of the windscreen wipers, backed up by the distant hum of the engine)

P.S. I'm sorry. I didn't listen to my betters nor did I follow their advice on previous "I can't embed videos!' postings. I have learnt my lesson and will, in future, pay more attention to those who know better than I. Bad, bad Dobby. I will now go iron my hands.
:p

They show a real picture of boating in the UK...and I actually like that...us against the elements (that's why I am only looking at flybridge boats, so I can run indoors when the elements beat me after about 2 minutes).

One of my favourite times on a boat, was a blast around Poole harbour in an open boat when it was -2C It really was exhilarating. (I love warm weather and warm seas too of course).

IMHO, its because moboers are using their boats less due to the general economic situation and the price of fuel so there are fewer cruise reports and fewer tales to tell

Ok it's NOT an epic but a cruise report of sorts, just posted earlier over on MB. We cancelled our big coastal trip this year due to the imminent arrival of our first grand child so needed to be closer to home. Next year a circumnavigation of Ireland is on the cards weather and health permitting, alternatively we might truck the boat to Dublin and cruise across to Scotland and do the Crinan and Caladonian canal to the east coast of Scotland.

?.......... Next year a circumnavigation of Ireland is on the cards weather and health permitting, alternatively we might truck the boat to Dublin and cruise across to Scotland and do the Crinan canal to the easy coast of Scotland.

Either of those destinations, combined with the usual oceanfroggie photographic and writing skills would potentially make up a sensational report Noel.

If you do the Scotland option, perhaps co-ordinate the West Highland Week sailing events.......if all the stars align of course :), I remember the last big report you did around the south coast of Ireland to a tall ships regatta, which was excellent!

Why does everyone seem to be heading to Scotland next summer?

Thats our plan as well. Well ok we only plan to head from Lincoln to the borders but its still Scotland :D

I corrected a slight typo as I left the "Caladonian" canal out. Scotland and the western isles looks so interesting, scenic, rural and mountainous not unlike the SW coast of Ireland. Pals of our chartered on the Caladonian canal a few years ago and spoke very highly of the cruising area through Scotland.
