Stops the helm and instruments getting covered with dust, dead mini insects, condensation ... Volvo Penta make instruments, and some of them are damp proof

It also protects the aluminium laminate panels from de laminating, have seen these trashed within first year when not covered.

My boat has curtains
The sun is very tough on everything so to prevent fading and discolouration you have to take steps..

I have owned a Wlliam Osbourne Eagle 1949 and a Fairey Huntress 1964. Both vessels had neat canvas cover with press studs which rolled down to cover exposed instruments when not not in use.

So true Ive had to dry our tacho/hour meter out in airing cupboard twice and thats just from the damp!

Mine is elasticated vinyl in blue to match the seats and is secured with press-studs, even has a pocket to cover the levers!
